August 2020 Newsletter

Good morning and Happy August!  We trust you are all following the safety guidelines and staying well.

For all you heat lovers sorry ahead of time, but enough already Bring back my Fall and Winter weather!  Cool nights for sleeping and cooler days for piecing and quilting make this girl a much happier quilter.

I will say that driving past the fields of sunflowers in Swenson is a joyous sight to behold each morning and evening.

We have some exciting news to share with you all.  We just got in Black ¼” elastic and more white 1/8” elastic for mask making.  As well as Black BioSmart Antimicrobial fabric.  This fabric is made to make Medical Garments, Masks and other projects where Antimicrobial protection is needed!  It is priced and sold by the yard.  When washed with an EPA registered CHLORINE BLEACH, BioSmart technology binds chlorine to the surface of the fabric, which kills 99.9% of many common bacteria and viruses.  BioSmart technology is durable up to 75 industrial wash cycles.

Just a reminder that we have our Fall 2020 Retreated booked at Chewelah Peak Learning Center Oct. 1-4.  $150 covers room, all meals, snacks and door prizes.  We need have no less than 15 people, but do have to limit it to no more than 25.  We will be able to Social Distance with each of us having our own table to work at, we will have shared cutting tables and ironing tables with hand sanitizer at each.  We will be working on our own individual projects with demos of fun new projects a couple of times a day with a limited number of kits available for each, games, prizes and great fun & fellowship with other quilters.  Please call or come in to the shop to sign up ASAP.  PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL A REPLY TO THE NEWS LETTER!

There is a $50 (cash or check only) deposit required to sign up and deadline for sign up is August 14.  With remaining $100 (cash or check only please.) due by Sept. 15, 2020.  As of the last time I talked with Bill we are still a go, if for some reason the state says no or we fail to have enough people then everyone will receive a full refund.  If you cancel/don’t show up for any reason other than a true emergency (you wake up ill, death in the family, early labor/birth for example could result in a refund), not so for I don’t feel like going or just decided not to go.  You can check out the learning center by searching online  Chewelah Peak Learning Center.

As I am sure you all know most all of the Quilt Shows have been cancelled.  As of right now the only 1 I know of that is still a go is the Inland Northwest Railroad Museum Oct. 2-4, 11am-4pm.  We are slated to be there as a vendor.

Although we can’t be at the Washington State Quilter’s Show that has been cancelled, we will be having our Show Prices for 2 weeks in October and selling our floor demo models at a discount as well.  Watch for our “Because WE CAN’T be at the Quilt Show Sale” info coming next month and in October.
