Have you driven along the local roads and seen the stunning Sunflowers? Take a couple of minutes to pull over and enjoy their loveliness, but please keep your eyes on the road when driving. Let’s keep it safe for everyone to appreciate.
This Friday and Saturday will be a very special Sale at the shop. Learn more about it under the August happenings. 9-5 on Friday & 9-4 Saturday.
We are sponsoring A Quilting Retreat. September 19 – 22, 2019 at the Chewelah Peak Learning Center.
This retreat can either be a “I want to work on my own thing” or “Let’s make that!” The “My own thing” will allow you to work on whatever you wish to bring along with you or purchase from our little “Pop up shop”, while the “Let’s make that!” will include 1 of 2 kit projects (Original design that you will have first chance at) for either 2 Complete Lovely Kitchen Gift Sets (includes all supplies needed to make 2 complete sets) or 1 large Throw Sized Quilt (Includes fabric for top & Binding, pattern, thread) to make while you are there. Samples will be up in the shop by July 20th. Deadline for sign up will be Aug. 25
Cost will be:
“My own thing” = $150.00 (includes accommodations, all meals, work area + evening Snacks)
“Let’s Make That!” = $225.50. (Includes accommodations, all meals, work area, evening Snacks, 1 kit and instruction). We will have someone to instruct both workshop projects. Space is limited, so please sign up early. If you have a child or Grandchild you would like to bring, they are welcome as well, but all fees apply for each person attending no matter of age. We have a complete supply list you will be given when you sign up and pay.
Arrival will be no earlier than 10am on the 19th, with check out 3pm on the 22nd. Please know that with us being allowed to use this facility, we will ALL have to sign up to help with chores. Meals will be provided, but Twila MUST HAVE a list when you sign up of any food allergies, special dietary needs or restrictions. There is an extra charge of $10 per person for Gluten Free & Vegan meals. These are required by the facility if they are to provide food for us. Refusal to do so will result in us being unable to assure that you have food you can eat provided for the meal times we are there. Please don’t be shy about this! No one will have the information you provide except Twila and the folks required to know at the facility and will only be used in case of emergency. Meals that will be included are a sack lunch on Thursday at noon. Full Meals: 8am Breakfast Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Noon Lunch Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 5pm Dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
We all will be Assigned dorms by the Facility, so if you have special needs please let Twila know this as well when you sign up. We will have a large well lit space for sewing, demos and are even planning to take a couple of our Handi Quilter Long Arms (1 sit down, 1 Stand up) up to have on hand for use (please note: if you want to use 1 of them you will need to have training ahead of time as we will not have enough time up there to train and allow for usage as well) Rental fees will apply if you are renting, but 10 minute test drives are free.
Have you taught Quilting, Piecing or Appliqué before or are you interested in giving it a try? Please contact Twila if you are, to set up a get together time so we can talk about it. It’s a great way to meet new people, Share the love of Quilting and earn some money to support your habit.
August 2 & 3: We will be participating in the Deer Park City wide SIDEWALK and Yard sale and having some great specials. Patterns, fabric and notions at just $4 each or per yd. ALL are below our cost!
August 3, 9am – 4pm. 26th Annual Fat Quarter Quilters Quilt Show “Quilts of Many Colors” at St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church 602 E. 6th St. Deer Park, WA 99006. We will be open and if you bring us one of our coupons you will get a discount on any purchases (some restrictions apply).
August 5 – 9, 9:30am – 1:30pm and 1:30- 5:30. Kids Can Sew! Camp. This time we will be making an Irish Chain Quilt. Learn the basics’ of piecing and sewing while making a twin sized quilt and matching 3 piece pillow case. All supplies included. $125. Instructor: Twila. For ages 8 and up. (children under age of 12 must have someone over 16 with them please) Due to such a great response we added an afternoon camp as well. Both sessions are full!
August 13, 9:30 – 12:30. Pt. 2 of Beginning Applique.
August 14, 21, 28 and Sept. 4. 11-2 Basic Beginning Quilting 4, In this 4 part class, Learn everything from choosing fabric, Color balance, picking Patterns, learn about the Tools used in quilting, Accurate Cutting, Accurate seams, the difference between Pressing/Ironing and finishing your quilt. $60 (addictional $50 for the machine quilting your quilt has had to be added. this is approximately half price for the quilting).

Oct. 18-20, 2019 Washington State Quilter’s present their 41st Annual Quilt Show, “Joyful Journey” at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center 404 N. Havana St. Spokane Valley, WA. Friday & Saturday 10am – 6pm and Sunday 10am – 4 pm. Admission, good for all 3 days is $10, children 10 and under Free. Free parking. Reminder this is a People Choice show and everyone is welcome to enter a quilt that you have completed in the last year. We have registration forms here in the shop and are a Quilt Drop off point before the show. We will be there in bay 3 as a Vender in our usual Booth space in Bay 3. Please, come by and say Hi! Watch for a special email blast just before the show.
